In life we often tend to make judgements about people and look down on others based on incorrect information, assumptions and/or rumors. We rarely take the time to try to look at things from another person’s perspective. Read this little story and I hope it motivates or inspires you to think carefully and use wisdom when looking at “other people’s laundry”. Enjoy!
A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while eating breakfast, the wife notices the neighbor hanging laundry on a line. “That laundry is not very clean”, she said. “That woman does not know how to clean her clothes, so I can just imagine her house must be filthy.” Her husband just looked and never made any comments. Each day the young wife would make a negative comment about the neighbor’s laundry.
After some time, the young wife was surprised to see nice clean laundry on the line and said to her husband; “Look, the neighbor has learned how to clean their clothes or maybe they got better laundry soap. I wonder if someone finally told her about those dingy clothes.”
The husband then replied to his young wife, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.”
Lesson: If our windows are dirty, then we will automatically assume that others are dirty. Sometimes what we see in others is a reflection of what lies within us.
Lovelies let us remember that the Bible says – “Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.” ( Matthew 5:8), “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled” ( Titus 1:15).
